About amY
A little bit about me….
Hi, my name is Amy. I am an experienced primary school teacher and mum to two wonderful boys, Harry and Noah.
Music has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up in Cornwall in a very musical household and learnt to play the guitar and piano from a young age. I found these skills, along with my love of singing, to be invaluable when I went to university to train as a teacher.
I spent the next 14 years teaching Reception to Year 2 in London and the surrounding areas. Being a teacher gave me the opportunity to incorporate music and singing into every aspect of the school day as well as leading music for the school. I led two school choirs, taught music in the Early Years and Key Stage 1 and supported the whole school on developing a creative curriculum.
I love singing with children, as my two boys only know too well! The voice is something that is natural, a fabulous way for anyone to express themselves musically.
After moving to Worcestershire, with my family and having my second child, I chose to stay at home but I missed the excitement and joy working with young children brings. So, I decided to combine my passion for music and love of teaching to start my own music group and Musical Explorers was born!
